We Help Australians Build Financial Confidence

Real people. Real experience. Real results in long-term financial planning.

Starting felariontha back in 2018 wasn't about disrupting anything or revolutionizing an industry. We just noticed that most budgeting advice felt either too complicated or too simplistic. People needed something practical that actually worked for the long haul.

How We Got Started

Back in 2018, our founder Philippa Thorburn was working with families around Port Macquarie who kept asking the same question: "How do we actually stick to a budget for more than three months?"

The answer wasn't about fancy apps or strict rules. It was about understanding that life changes, priorities shift, and your financial approach needs to adapt without falling apart. So we built our methods around flexibility.

Seven years later, we've worked with over 340 Australian households. Some stay with us for six months. Others check in quarterly for years. What matters is that they're making progress that fits their actual lives.

What Guides Our Work

1

Honest Conversations

We're not going to tell you budgeting is easy or fun. But we will be straight with you about what works and what doesn't based on years of watching real people try different approaches.

2

Long-Term Thinking

Quick fixes don't interest us much. We focus on building financial habits that still make sense in five years when your income, family situation, or priorities have completely changed.

3

Practical Methods

Our strategies work with spreadsheets, apps, or even paper notebooks. The tool doesn't matter as much as understanding the principles behind sustainable budgeting practices.

Harriet Lundquist

Senior Financial Planning Consultant

Harriet joined us in 2021 after spending eight years in banking where she kept seeing the same patterns. People would get excited about budgets, stick with them for two months, then abandon everything when life got busy.

She specializes in helping clients build systems that survive real-world chaos. Her background in both finance and behavioral psychology means she understands why we make the money decisions we do.

Our Approach to Financial Planning

We don't believe in one-size-fits-all budgets. A single professional in Sydney has different needs than a family of four in regional Queensland. That's why we start by understanding your actual situation before suggesting anything.

Most people who come to us have tried budgeting before. Sometimes multiple times. What usually breaks down isn't the math or the tracking but the fact that rigid systems can't handle unexpected expenses or changing priorities.

Our methods focus on building flexibility into your financial planning from day one. When you can adjust your budget without abandoning it completely, you're much more likely to stick with the process long enough to see real changes.

  • Personalized financial assessments based on your current situation and realistic goals
  • Quarterly check-ins to adapt your budget as life circumstances change
  • Practical tools that work with your preferred tracking methods
  • Support that continues beyond the initial planning phase

Working With Australian Households Since 2018

Port Macquarie has been our home base since we started, but we work with clients across New South Wales and Queensland. Some prefer in-person sessions. Others do everything remotely. What matters is finding an approach that fits your schedule and communication style.

Financial planning team reviewing client progress reports

We typically work with clients for a minimum of six months because that's how long it takes to build sustainable financial habits. Some extend that to a year or more. A few check in with us quarterly for ongoing support as their situations evolve.

If you're tired of starting budgets that fall apart after a few weeks, or if you've got major financial decisions coming up and want someone to help you think through the long-term implications, we might be a good fit.
